Responsibilities
- As a data engineer, you develop, roll-out and maintain our clients in-house software to compute and report Overall Equipment Efficiency (OEE) and Run Time Efficiency (RTE) numbers. These numbers provide vital information during various production meetings.
- You'll consult production engineers to determine the user requirements and document functional specifications.
- You program software to pull data from our equipment (PLC, OPC DA/UA) and Manufacturing Execution Systems (MES) and push it onto a message bus (Kafka, Active MQ).
- You develop algorithms to combine and transform data, compute efficiency numbers and build downtime reason trees.
- You'll collaborate with our DevOps and Infrastructure teams to build and deploy microservices on an on-prem Kubernetes platform.
- You work closely together with production departments to roll out the software on our production lines.
Requirements
- You have a Bachelor/Master degree in computer science, IT or engineering or related experience.
- You have 3 years related work experience (less might be considered depending on previous experience and educational background).
- You have experience with functional and object oriented programming languages (JavaScript, Python, etc.).
- You have basic notion of Linux, DevOps (Jenkins, Kubernetes), Docker containers and version control (git, Gitlab).
- You have an analytical mindset and you are a pragmatic problem solver.
- You are fluent in Dutch and English.
- You have strong communication skills, both verbally and in writing.
- You have basic understanding of lean manufacturing and Overall Equipment Efficiency (OEE).
- You have experience with protocols to extract data from manufacturing systems (OPC UA/DA, MQTT, profinet).
- You have experience with automation and manufacturing systems (PLC, SCADA) and have abasic understanding of Enterprise Resource Planning (ERP) and Manufacturing Execution Systems (MES).
- You have experience with data engineering, data lakes, data warehouses and ETL (Snowflake, Apache Airflow).
- You have basic understanding of Historian Software (Osisoft Pi).
- You have basic understanding of message bus technologies (Active MQ, Kafka), relational databases (Postgres, MSSQL, Oracle) , non-relational databases and object storage.
- You previously worked in the pharmaceutical or another strongly regulated industry.
