Talent Acquisition Manager

The Talent Acquisition Manager will create, plan, and direct the talent acquisition (TA) lifecycle to attract, evaluate, hire, onboard and retain candidates. This includes develop creative sourcing strategies specific to the talent needs of the business and proactively manage a diverse talent pipeline; manage and enhance all recruiting programs, policies, and procedures to facilitate business growth; and establish credible partnerships with hiring managers enabling growth by assessing needs and developing talent acquisition solutions.
The Manager will be keenly focused on developing and executing a talent acquisition strategy that aligns with the growth plans of the organization to fuel the development of talent pipelines for positions at all levels of the organization while maximizing the candidate experience.

This position reports to the Vice President of People. This role can be hybrid or remote, with travel required to our main office in Annapolis, MD; satellite offices in Nashville, TN and to plant locations in operation (Jessup, MD and Seaford, DE) or under development (throughout the US). Occasional overnight travel may be required.

Responsibilities

  • Develop and manage TA processes and tools – from candidate sourcing, interviewing, testing, hiring and on-boarding. Manage on-boarding in partnership with our People Team.
  • Work with business leaders to evaluate annual and longer-range hiring needs, providing professional expertise and support in the design, development and implementation of the talent acquisition process needed to achieve aggressive business goals and results in the creation of external pipelines of top talent.
  • Collaborate with hiring managers to identify and draft detailed and accurate job descriptions and hiring criteria.
  • Automate TA processes, steps and tools to maximize use of technology that enables the company to rapidly acquire diverse top talent. Own the Applicant Tracking System (ATS) to ensure appropriate branding, data accuracy and general efficiencies
  • Promote and deliver diverse candidates and ensure a fair and equitable TA process. Ensure adherence to all employment laws, regulations, and requirements through the development and execution of talent acquisition policies and processes.
  • Collaborate with Marketing team to create social media campaigns, advertisements, and website updates. Create and own the candidate experience and external-facing positioning and communication strategy, e.g., social media, employment extranet, positioning with key forums for new hires such as universities, industry associations, etc.
  • Partner on employee experience initiatives, driving culture, engagement, and retention efforts
  • Responsible for owning new hire administration, including, but not limited to, employment verifications, change management (such as increases, promotions, bonuses, etc.)
  • Participate in HR programs including promotions, performance and merit process, etc.
  • Build great relationships and collaborate with others on our team and across the company
  • Oversees all external search partners and identifies new services as needed
  • Maintain constant communication with the company’s professional employer organization, Tandium, on HR-related issues such as payroll, new hires, terminations, etc. Frequently work in Tandium’s administrator portal for reporting, onboarding, and employee information maintenance
  • Assist with all internal and external HR-related matters

Qualifications & Experience

  • Proven experience as Talent Acquisition Manager – 5+ years. Industrial recruitment strongly preferred.
  • BS in Business Administration, Human Resources or relevant field preferred.
  • Experience in full-cycle recruiting, sourcing and employment branding.
  • Direct experience recruiting in multiple discipline areas and levels, including hiring for nonexempt, exempt and leadership positions; experience in the industrial or related industry strongly preferred.
  • Experience in all areas of sourcing such as the internet, social media, networking, employee referrals, job postings, developing pipelines, as well as conducting open houses and virtual job fairs.
  • Willingness to understand the duties and competencies of different roles.
  • Working knowledge of Applicant Tracking Systems (ATS) and databases.
  • Excellent communicator. Excellent written and verbal communication skills
  • Well-organized. Meticulous attention to detail and track all tasks to completion
  • Superb computer literacy with capability in email, MS Office and related HR software
  • Experience working with an HRIS platform, ATS, etc.
  • Experience working with highly confidential information
  • Fantastic knowledge of HR functions and best practices. Deep understanding of Labor Law and employment regulations
  • Excellent record-keeping skills
  • Works comfortably under pressure and meets tight deadlines
  • Remarkable organizational and conflict management skills
  • Strong decision-making and problem-solving skills
  • Able to work independently as well as part of a team with flexibility and willingness to learn and to take initiative on variety of tasks and projects
  • Approachable and appropriate interacting with staff at all levels in a rapidly changing environment

Job Demands

  • Must be able to remain in a stationary position for most of the time worked, as the position is online and remote. Ability to operate a computer and other office productivity machinery. Must have the ability to communicate information and ideas so others will understand. Must be able to exchange accurate information in these situations. A minimum of 40 hours per week required. Works hours will vary depending on project specifications and may involve weekends and night work.
Salary listed is starting point for discussion and does not include annual Short-term Incentive Program amounts.
