Every year 11 billion kg of plastic flow into our oceans globally, primarily via rivers. If we don't act now, the volume of plastics entering the oceans yearly will triple to almost 29 billion kg by 2040. In this business-as-usual scenario, the problem and consequences for people, animals and the environment become unmanageable. Change is needed today. Our vision is bold and global: a world where rivers are plastic-free.
ABOUT RIVER CLEANUP
River Cleanup started in 2017 with a 10-minute cleanup and was founded in Antwerp in 2019 as a Belgian nonprofit organization. To date, we have prevented/removed over three million kg of waste from the environment, including 2,4 million kg of plastics. We also mobilized 208.000 people in over 4.000 events along 161 rivers in 90 countries.
Our approach (we call it The Ripple Model) consists of three pillars: clean, educate and transform. We aim to increase our impact and scale in the coming years by transitioning from start-up to scale-up. Corporate partnerships represent over 80% of our current financial resources. We foresee substantial budget growth in the coming years, in line with our development strategy and program needs. As a Corporate Fundraiser you’ll be part of a growing fundraising team and a growing dynamic association.
YOUR ROLE
As our future Corporate Fundraiser, you play a crucial role in finding and securing funds that enable us to realize our mission. You’ll be responsible for the prospection of new corporate partners, for the retention of current corporate accounts and for upgrading them towards a partnership with more impact on plastic-free rivers.
You’ll be responsible for:
- Increasing revenue/resources from corporate partners through acquisition, retention and upgrading
- Ensuring that people and companies have an excellent experience along their entire journey with River Cleanup
- Ensuring that our CRM (Salesforce) is up-to-date
- Monitoring (expected) corporate revenues in view of the (multi) annual budget and ensure that funds are well allocated (earmarked or unearmarked)
- Improving the donor experience and journey of corporate partners
- Reporting to corporate partners on the impact of their support
- Organizing events and developing tools that increase the loyalty of our corporate partners
You will collaborate with several colleagues that are in touch with our corporate partners. You will be the main point of contact for corporate partners.
You directly report to our Head of Partnerships and Philanthropy.
WHAT IS REQUIRED TO THRIVE IN THIS ROLE
- Solid experience in a fundraising role
- Experience with CSR in a corporate setting
- Strong relation management skills
- The ability to combine strategic thinking with a hands-on mentality and attention to detail
- People skills and the demonstrated ability to be a team player
- Good level of English, Dutch and French
- An entrepreneurial spirit and the ability to work independently
- Demonstrated problem-solving skills
- A high degree of flexibility and the ability to work in a fast-paced environment
This position is not open to consultants or external project managers.
